Five Nights at Freddy's TV Cabinet

I was redoing my boyfriends sons room in Five Nights at Freddy's. His grandmother had a cabinet she was going to use to put his tv and game system in, but we agreed that boys will be boys, and that the glass doors it had on it, simply would not be safe around ten year olds who might rough house and break them, or themselves on the glass. So, I figured it would be easy to take the doors off, get some wood trim and make new doors. We had some aluminum flashing that we had intended to use to patch up spots on the roof, but never got around to. My grandmother when I was younger had made some cabinet doors flashing as the inside panel. She had drawn on different vegetables, such as green beans, tomatoes and peppers, then she used a nail to punch the design in and  used them as doors on her pantry. Its looked really nice, and I thought I would do that here, except I was going to use LED lights to make the design POP that much more

Five Nights at Freddy's Wall Mural

This is my work that I did on my boyfriends sons room. He is a huge fan of Five Nights at Freddy's
This project took about a week and a half to complete as the walls needed a lot of work before I could even start painting the fun stuff.

DIY Mason Jar Lights

I saw a few posts on Facebook and Youtube about mason jar lights so I decided to make some out of some spaghetti jars I had been saving up. I figured why wouldn't spaghetti jars work just as well as mason jars and they were free.  The total cost of this project was about 3 dollars. I already had the craft glue, but it only costs a couple dollars, and you could probably even use "school" glue.

This was my first try. I used spaghetti jars, tissue paper, craft glue, and Christmas tree lights.

I didn't get pictures of every step because at the time I didn't know I would be posting it to my blog. Below are a few steps, and more pictures.

Little Boys Are Superheros In Disguise

This was a commissioned piece I did for a friend. Done on canvas with acrylics.
The paint is still a little wet on the bottom where I had painted some of the buildings.

Link (Zelda) Wall Mural

My boyfriend is a huge fan of the Legend of Zelda video game series. When redoing our bedroom we decided that one wall would be Mario Brothers (almost completed wall HERE). Another smaller wall would be dedicated to Link.
I use a projector to put the design on the wall, because it is so much simpler than trying to draw a design on. My boyfriend, tried to be helpful during this project. He traced it on the wall, but didn't tell me till after he had painted some of the base colors that the projector had moved and that he had tried to realign it the best he could.

Long story short, this wall mural has been a challenge, to not only paint, but fix errors that occurred during the tracing step, when the projector moved.  Although my boyfriend does continue to help, by rinsing paint palette off, getting me fresh water to rinse my brushes in, he doesn't help me with the wall anymore. I am using basic craft paint that you can usually buy at any major retailer or on the internet,  to actually paint the design on the wall. I also use a paint drying retarder so that I can blend the colors. Its all about the shading.

Here is my progress so far.
The first picture is the work my boyfriend did while I was at work. He didnt realize that I hadn't quite finished painting the clouds yet. I can't seem to find the pictures I took of work done in between this picture and the next one. So a lot of the work isn't documented.

Mario Brothers Wall Mural

I am currently working on a Mario Bros Themed wall mural in our bedroom.
After prepping and  painting the walls with the base light blue color (regular wall paint semi gloss. In the future I would use a colored primer, or matte finish paint instead of semi gloss) I used an EZ Tracer (art projector, about 30 dollars at Michaels Arts and Crafts Store) to project the pictures onto the wall, so that I could trace them.
I then used simple acrylic arts and crafts paints to paint the characters. Some colors took more than one coat to cover the wall paint. I think my main mistake was using a semi gloss wall paint. Live and learn I guess. I also used a liquid Paint Retarder during the highlighting process to blend the colors well.

After I finish I will be using a clear varnish or sealer to seal the design and make it washable as well as protecting it, so that it will last for years.
Using the tracer to trace Link from Zelda on the wall. I dont have any pictures of me tracing Mario Bros characters
